Like a lot of hobby photographers, I began our family photo trips with an inkling in the back of my head of one day quitting my day job, having grand adventures behind a lens, and calling it work.
However, most of the demand for photography centers around portraiture and I started out taking pictures of products… that don’t move, have bad hair days, or refuse to smile. In other words, taking great portraits has proven more difficult than I originally expected.
I’ve volunteered to take pictures at a few events and family sessions.. and folks seem to think I do a good enough job. Being my own worst critic, though, my portraits just aren’t as good as I would like them to be yet. At this point, most of the pictures in this category are of friends and family, and I had fun shooting them, and I’ve decided that’s good enough for me.
